Audit Leads to Firing at City Water Dept.

Last week Pell City water department employee Dianne White was terminated from her city job.
According to White’s termination papers she stands accused of making unauthorized adjustments to her personal water account.

  • St. Clair Special Olympics was a Success
    The 2008 St. Clair County Special Olympics were held on Tuesday, September 23, at the Moody City Park. The day began with 14 county schools participating in the Opening Ceremonies. Athletes marched in with banners proclaiming their school name and the theme for the day “One, Voice, One Heart, Two Hands, We Can!”

  • Commission Hires Reporter for Administrators’ Position
    After a yearlong search, the St. Clair County Commission finally made it official that Kellie Long, a reporter in the St. Clair area, will become the County Commission Administrator and Treasurer. Long, who has been the beat reporter covering the commission for over seven years, said that she is “very excited” about both the ability to further a career that benefits St. Clair residents and have the opportunity to help the county as it grows.

  • Testing Nature’s Filtering Power
    Alabama Power has recently begun a pilot program in conjunction with Duke Power, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to use nature to help filter some of the hazardous byproducts associated with burning coal at power plants.

  • Man Arrested in Surles Accident
    James Michael Scogins, 44, of Pell City was arrested Monday and charged with the manslaughter death of Pell City police officer Greg Surles.
